Album Stream: M83′s Soundtrack to the Feature Film – Oblivion

oblivion-movie-directed by Joseph Kosinski

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for, another Tom Cruise movie! Whether or not the acting, story, or Oblivion itself is good doesn’t really matter. The real reward from this Sci-Fi epic will no doubt be the music blaring from the 7.1 surround speakers at the nearest IMAX. M83 frontman, Anthony Gonzalez, has teamed up with film composer, Joseph Trapanese, to create a soundscape not unlike Daft Punk‘s Tron soundtrack. Although, the music strays from the average musical score as multiple shoegaze techniques seem to pop up every now and then. The synths drone with walls of tones looping continuously. The nature of the soundtrack seems to originate from the driving drums on almost every track. The entire album stream is below (with the tracklist just below that). We’ll see how the music fits with the epicosity of the film; or if the the score blows it out of the film itself out of the water.
