Rips and Remixes: Marina and the Diamonds – Lies (Zed’s Dead Remix)

Hipster anthem turned into melodic wobblefest, Zed’s Dead remix of Marina and the Diamonds creates an aura of sexy interpolation between love lost and synths gained. Although not as progressive as Zed’s other remixes, the bass line perfectly accents Diamandis’ New Wave vocals. For those new to the alternative synth-pop scene, Marina Lambrini Diamandis (yes, that is her legal name) is the creative voice behind her stage name, Marina and the Diamonds. She aptly calls herself a “DIY musician” due to her ever-changing techniques of song writing and production. The new layer of percussion that Zed’s Dead adds builds upon the original mix with plenty of snares to keep your ears busy! Meanwhile the shaky synths and overzealous echoes create a trance-like atmosphere until the end leaves you hanging with a half built lead. Check it out down below!
